Liam Griffiths – Operations Director
Liam has recently been awarded with his 25 year service award. All at Maybank wish to thank Liam for his commitment, dedication and loyalty to Maybank over the past 25 years. We all agree that the company would not be the success it is today without Liam’s involvement. There is no deployment he can’t cover, whether it be an hours’ notice or weeks’ notice. Once again HUGE congratulations to Liam but most importantly Thank You.
We are extremely proud to announce that one of our officers has been awarded a BCU Commander’s Commendation from the Metropolitan Police Service.
Whilst on his way to work, Abi shown exceptional bravery when he intervened after witnessing a young female being harassed by a man. Abi sustained serious injuries which resulted in many months off work and several major surgeries.
It has been a long road to recovery, but we are extremely pleased to see Abi back in action.
Our MD, Les said; Abi’s intervention is a testament to the outcome for this young girl. Many would have walked away, Abi made a conscious decision irrespective of his own personal safety to intervene, although the injuries Abi sustained and the road to full recovery was difficult the tenacity to do what he thought was right shone through. People like Abi make a difference, and in this case, it was a huge difference.
We hope Abi has a fantastic time at the awards ceremony in May with his family.
Following our recent SIA Approved Contractor Scheme audit, we are pleased to announce that we have increased our score by a huge 11 points.

The Maybank family have once again pulled together as we always do. Team work really does makes the dream work. A special thanks to our Compliance Director, Danielle Wood for her direction on this year’s audit.

Our officers have supported, assisted and kept thousands of fans and passersby safe throughout countless stations this year.

The weather for the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester didn’t put the crowds off.
The crowds were out in force however our officers worked alongside the British Transport Police and Northern Staff to ensure that all ran smoothly for passengers travelling via Deansgate Station.
Our client DB Cargo UK contacted our Operations team recently to seek assistance at their St. Blazey yard in Cornwall. The quiet quaint village was due to a visit from the most iconic steam train in our generation.
The information was on a strictly ‘need to know’ basis to ensure our team could plan and execute given the sensitivity required to deliver.
We expected a large following for this truely iconic locomotive… have you guessed which locomotive we are referring to yet??… The world famous ‘Flying Scotsman’ steam train travelled from Bristol to St Blazey during its centenary year tour.
Maybank Security delivered once again. The invited VIP’s and those fortunate enough to view from external points did so in a safe and controlled environment.
The magnificent locomotive was the guest of honour at the formal launch of the newly refurbished turntable at St Blazey. The turntable is the only one of its kind in Cornwall and has been recently restored as part of new rail engineering project by MPower Kernow.
Our Managing Director was joined by our Operations Director, Head of Rail and long serving members of our team to fully ensure our clients had a first class service.
Once again thank you to everyone involved for their outstanding work in keeping not only members of the public safe but for also keeping this truly remarkable locomotive safe, to start her next 100 years.
With special thanks to Chris Fuoco for his personal thanks and all at Network Rail, British Transport Police, West Coast Railways, GWR.

Not only did we pass with flying colours, but our score also puts us in the ACS top 15% Contractor Scores.

Maybank is now proudly a member of the Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme (RSAS).
The Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme (RSAS) allows the British Transport Police to accredit employees of organizations involved in railway safety and security, which helps British Transport officers to concentrate on their frontline duties.
The accreditation scheme helps to tackle low-level crime and anti-social behaviour, improve intelligence and maximize public confidence.
Maybank is proud to have been part of Operation London Bridge. We supported Northern Trains by deploying several security officers to various station locations across the North East and North West regions
Alison Baines – Administration Manager

Maybank gives Alison our sincere thanks and gratitude for all you have given to Maybank over the last 25 years. Enjoy your gifts and holiday presented today, you certainly deserve it. Here’s to the next 25 years!
David Cooke – Security Officer
David has recently celebrated his 25-year anniversary with Maybank. David is a true asset to our organization. He has shown nothing but dedication and unwavering commitment over the past 25 years. David is a keen train enthusiast so what better way of saying thank you than a day out and lunch on board the Flying Scotsman.
Everyone is aware of the humanitarian situation that is ongoing in Ukraine at the moment. Maybank Security was therefore very happy to help by donating toiletries to an appeal organized by the primary school attended by one of our employee’s children.
Hopefully, this will, in a small way, aid people who have been displaced from their homes in the worst possible way.
Maybank is expanding its stable of Freight Railyards in the south with 3 new permanent sites being secured in the Bow and Barking area.
But this is a truly nationwide business and they join sites secured by Maybank personnel stretching right up through the country via Manchester and Ayr to as far north as Fort William. Should be safe enough there!
FANATICS took Maybank all round the world in 2018 as both their Golf and Motorsport Divisions went International at The Ryder Cup Paris and the Formula 1 2018 season.
We saw and secured the set-up, the event and the breakdown at Le Golf National and so many locations for the Formula 1 that for the lucky few to be involved the suitcases were barely unpacked all year.
See our Special Edition newsletters for more details of the sights and sounds of each and feedback on the experience of being involved.
If you would like to speak with us please get in touch.
Our Head Office is based in Manchester but our service cover is both nationwide and international.

TOOLSTATION was almost an inherited client – or should we say Maybank was their inherited security firm for their new RDC in Manchester. Maybank had been securing a site in Middleton, Manchester for 28 years for another important client who chose to relocate in 2016. We then had fun and games during the interim period whilst awaiting a new tenant with attempted vandalism and unwanted guests from the travelling communities trying their best on multiple occasions to gain access to the large vacant land and warehouses we protected. When we heard Toolstation would be taking over the site it was a huge relief followed by a slight concern – would Maybank still be required?
Thankfully after the new clients had seen with their own eyes the high calibre officers we deploy and the attention to detail our staff offer, short discussions between the management of both parties quickly led to us being asked to remain on site with our brand new residents and we have continued to support them with Gatehouse Security Officers and Dog Unit Security ever since.
The new Distribution Centre has been totally transformed with the latest technology and security measures which are a great assistance to our officers in delivering to TOOLSTATION the Gold Standard Asset Protection we provide to all our clients.
We are looking forward to a long and successful relationship.
Our relationship with DB CARGO began with DB Schenker in 2013 when they needed to redesign their Security Solution at their Eurofreight Terminal near Dover.
Maybank offered a total security solution option, and were commissioned to install state of the art thermal camera technology combined with fixed camera site coverage, Redwall technology, ANPR entry systems, and control room equipment.
This high tech and sensitive project which was installed in collaboration with the DfT and the CPNI was delivered in 2014, on time and in budget, and so our reputation was made.
EPWIN are a new client we have gained by happy association.
AS one of the UK’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of PVC windows, doors and fascia systems, and with a large site to develop in Telford as their new 300,000 square foot Warehouse & Distribution Centre due to open by the end of the year, EPWIN WINDOW SYSTEMS found they needed access to their land via another of our client sites in order to begin their works, and so they came across MAYBANK Security officers.
Maybank has been serving as the preferred Security partner to FANATICS for over 10 years and it has been tremendous fun.
We were there to support them when they first opened The World Cup Shop on Market Street in Manchester in 2008 and the newly refurbished City Store at the Etihad Stadium and when they set the Blue Moon Rising on the Man City store in the Arndale Centre, Manchester. We opened the doors on the new stores at Everton, Liverpool 1, Notts Forest, Leicester Tigers, Twickenham, Wembley and the Principality Stadium, and our teams currently secure the merchandise areas at various regular sporting series such as The Six Nations Rugby Union, the NFL UK tour, and the NBA UK showcases.
Two of the largest event projects recently have been the 2018 Formula 1 Series, where Maybank joined the circus for 14 races across the globe, as near as Silverstone, but as far as China, Russia and Singapore and the European Tour Golf Season which included The Scottish Open, The Irish Open, The BMW Classic at Wentworth, The British Masters and The Ryder Cup competitions hosted in Europe. Maybank was with Fanatics securing their merchandise pavilion in the Fan Village at Gleneagles in 2014, and again with them securing the two huge merchandise pavilions in the North and West Fan Villages at Le Club National, Paris 2018, possibly mobilising our largest ever team of Security officers ever to go overseas – and we hope to be with them again for the 2020 Ryder Cup to be held at The Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, Rome. These events are all equally challenging, invigorating, tiring, exciting and rewarding but they do prove that you can be professional and still enjoy your work.
Thank you Fanatics for the experience.
When Specsavers asked us for plain clothes Store Detectives even WE said “Who steals from Specsavers?”.
And when the senior team took the call from an old friend and former colleague on the top of a mountain in Austria whilst working at the Formula 1, it did seem surreal.
However this was someone to whom we had provided security for many years previously and when he moved into the Specsavers brand we were the only security company he wanted. Well, the results are surprising.
The investment and trust that certain branches of Specsavers have placed in the MAYBANK detective team has now paid off for them fourfold in reduced frame theft and significantly lower stock loss figures. That’s thinking outside the box! Thank you for your belief Specsavers. So remember ……. next time YOU go for an eye test or a check-up ……… just consider whether that chap sitting next to you waiting for an appointment or that girl trying on the latest sunshades may really be one of us?
MAYBANK has been securing ALDI stores and RDCs since they entered the country in 1989 and opened their first stores in the West Midlands.
You might say we have grown with them, assisting with retail and gatehouse security, police liaison and licensing services, as they opened more stores and more regions, accompanying them as they crept into the North East, Scotland, and even Ireland.
As ALDI grew so too MAYBANK developed naturally, adding a handful of other core Blue Chip companies to our portfolio alongside our core partner. Today ALDI remain a key client, to whom we provide smart professional Security Officers with a customer friendly outlook and a strong understanding of the particular challenges of the discount retail environment. As ALDI press forward once again with new store openings and wider distribution across the country we hope to remain with them as a valued supplier for many years to come.
